The Sexton is hired on a contracted basis furnishing all materials, labor, and equipment to mow the grass and provide general cemetery maintenance at Evens and Jewell Cemeteries.  He is also responsible for townhall yard maintenance.  It is required that the grass mowing be done at least five times a year, beginning sometime in May in order to have the cemeteries looking sharp for Memorial Day.  The Sexton is furnished with the rules and regulations for the two cemeteries and handles the opening and closing of graves.  Funeral homes pay fees to the Township Treasurer and the Township in turn pays the sexton for grave openings/closings.
